How to get from Prague Airport to Prague centre:
Prague only has one airport 'Ruzyne' and it is just on the outskirts of the city. To get into the
town centre, you can either hop in a taxi, or use public transport.
If you decide on a taxi always get the driver to confirm the amount (or rough estimation) before you
set off. The drive to the centre (Prague 1/ Prague 2) should take around 30 minutes and cost between
about 500 and 700 CZK depending on traffic (about £17 – £25). Reputable companies to
are AAA and City taxis. Avoid any dodgy looking unmarked cabs for obvious reasons!
The cheaper option is to use public transport. You'll need to buy a 26 CZK (approx 90p) travel
ticket, either from the “Information and Travel” booth in the arrivals hall or the
yellow ticket machines out the front of the airport at the bus stop (you'll need coins for
these).
When you've got your ticket, take the no. 119 bus to its final stop, ‘Dejvicka’. This
journey should take about 20-25 mins. Don’t forget to validate your ticket on the bus using
the little yellow machines (otherwise you can get fined). The ticket is then valid for 90 minutes
and allows you to use bus, tram and metro within that time limit.
Dejvicka is the beginning of the green metro line (line A) so when you get off the bus head
underground and hop on the next metro. You will be at the centre of town (Mustek/Muzeum) in 4 or 5
stops.
Note: You could also fly from the UK to Brno (Czech Republic's 'second city') and travel to Hradec
Kralove from there, but Prague is probably easier.
How to get from Prague to Hradec Kralove:
When you are ready to travel from Prague to the festival the easiest/most comfortable option is
probably by train. Be aware that Prague has a few different train stations, most of which offer
services to Hradec Kralove. The easiest way to find the one you want is to head to WWW.idos.CZ change the language to English, then in
the first drop down box (where it says Timetable) select ‘Trains’.
Enter Prague to Hradec Kralove, the date and time you want to travel and hit search and it will list
a load of options.
The direct routes are probably easier and quicker (around 1hr 40mins), these tend to depart from
Marasykovo Nadrazi (Station) rather than the main train station (Hl.n. or Hlavni Nadrazi).
Tickets are cheap compared to UK train travel (around 150 CZK, £5) and you can sometimes get
group offers if there is more than 1 person travelling so ask when you get your ticket if
you’re in a group. Most trains have 1st class and 2nd class carriages – make sure you
sit in the right bit!
There are also regular buses from the main bus station, Florenc, and from Cerny Most metro station
(end of the yellow B line). The journey takes approx 1hr 40 mins and costs under 100 czk per
person.
How to get from Hradec Kralove to the festival site:
When you arrive at the HK station you’ll probably see thousands of other heads making their
way to the site. As with previous years, Kemp will be putting on free buses to transport you from
town to the site – full details of the timetable will be on the website nearer the time.
If a sweaty bus full of hip hop heads doesn’t float your boat then there are plenty of taxis
ready to do the journey too. Again, try and agree a price before you set-off to prevent any nasty
surprises at the other end.
At the festival
When you arrive on site you’ll need to queue up for ‘accreditation’. You will need
photographic ID for this….so be prepared. Camping and parking can also be sorted at this
point.
If you would prefer not to camp, you can find a complete list of accomodation in Hradec Kralove at
here.
